THE RIGHT CAMERA
A professional camera is a first and foremost thing you must have in the bag. You don't necessarily need an expensive camera but in order to give your clients an impression, you need to invest in a proper professional DSLR.
You need to get your hands on your new DSLR before going to the venue to understand the basics to a shoot.
Carrying a backup camera can also be a good option. It will act as the life saver in the middle of an event if your primary camera fails. Point and shoot camera for this regard will be a good choice.
VARIETY OF LENSES
Besides the camera, the major equipment to choose is a particular lens from the variety of lenses. You need a wide angle lens for art shoot, a portrait lens, a zoom lens, and any special lenses you think fits with your personal style.
For Example, you will need a Fish Eye if you choose to work in tight spots. You might need a macro lens for close-up shots of small details on the shoes, bouquet or a costume. For the sake of a bokeh effect, you will need a large aperture prime lens.
TRIPOD
If you need to avoid camera shakes especially in low light, all you need is a strong and handy tripod stand.
You may also want to pack a selfie stick or monopod to use for getting difficult angles and over the head shots at the venue.

FLASH
An essential element for shooting extraordinary photos is arguably lighting. In case you don't have sufficient light make sure to take a flash with you.
EXTRA BATTERIES
For artistic portfolios, you should prepare yourself to shoot for several hours. Long hours mean long battery usage and for that reason, you need to look into this keenly and avoid overlooking it.
You will need to change the batteries every now and then. Hence you need a couple of fully charged batteries for yourself.
EXTRA MEMORY CARDS
In the span of a few long hours, you’ll surely take thousands of photographs, so come totally prepared with as many blank memory cards as you must.
CONVENIENT CAMERA BAG
The last thing but one of the major things to care about is having an appropriate camera bag to put all the gear in it. For art photography, you will know that an ordinary camera bag will not be sufficient for your gadgets and gears and for that reason you will need to have a proper camera bag with you.
